I can't say much about the Windows/OLPC rumors; as a volunteer, I don't have any secret inside information (and I don't think there's all that much in the way of secret inside information in the first place - just some very active, speculative rumor mills... remember, FUD is sensational and consequently spreads fast).

I will say that a large number of volunteer developers, (and volunteer developers vastly outnumber OLPC staff) are committed to keeping their work for the XO open-source, and nothing can take away the open-sourceness of the code that's currently running - and working - on the machines. So there's no concern in my mind whatsoever that we'll ever be locked in to using only Windows on the XO. In any case, I believe that a truly open platform is also open to closed software. As long as our freedom to create and control the software on our machines is unrestricted, I don't have a problem with it.

These are all my personal thoughts and opinions, and I don't speak for or represent anyone but myself. I certainly don't pretend to know anything on this subject that isn't already available to the public.
