As I sit here looking at grad school homework that I should be doing and reading your blog instead, I feel that I need to share with you quite how jealous I am of this year that you have done. You have stepped out in severe independence, lived in countries that I can only hope to visit one day, made a name for yourself in the open source community, challenged yourself both personally and academically, and done it all without the restraints of a conservative game plan. I wish that I had your courage, and I think that I might try it myself when I graduate from Vandy.

As for what you should do with your month, there are a few suggestions that I would make. I hope that you do take time to take care of yourself. Get some sleep - don't set your alarm one morning and try to go back to sleep when your learned rhythm wakes you up. It's nice to do once in awhile. Find a mountain and spend some time on it alone. Heck, if you're feeling really adventurous, camp on top of it. You have enough friends around Boston that you aren't going to be paying for any equipment. Try some food that you haven't heard of. Maybe even cook it yourself. Pick a person to give some significant time to for whatever they need, especially if it's something that is hard for you to give. It's incredibly rewarding, and you will be surprised at how you develop the skills you need to meet the needs of someone else when you want to.

I hope that your month off is as awesome as the past year, and as relaxing as you can allow. Let me know if I can contribute at all.
